College Preparation & Guidance

Following graduation, Maor students typically continue on to higher education.  They receive degrees at four-year colleges, community colleges, technical training programs, and other advanced programs, often after spending a year of study in Israel.

We believe that in order to succeed in college, a student needs not only to be ready academically, but also to be able to identify their strengths and challenges; to be comfortable asking for help and accommodations when necessary; and to be able and willing to advocate for themselves. Throughout all four years at Maor, we focus on all of these skills in order to prepare our students for success in the years after high school.

Maor students are included in the RKYHS college guidance program, and work with both the RKYHS and Maor guidance counselors to determine their options for college after graduation.  When relevant, we encourage them to participate, with accommodations as necessary, in the PSAT, SAT and/or ACT college testing programs.

Maor provides Israel guidance for students who choose to spend a gap year in Israel, advising on the programs that will best suit them.  We are proud of the many Maor alumni who have chosen to join the IDF as Lone Soldiers, demonstrating their commitment and love for the State of Israel.

I don’t know where M would be today without all of your guidance and support. Because of you he knows that he has to try even when something is hard for him, that he has to ask for help, and that it’s OK to fail. Your hard work has enabled him to grow into a self-confident young man. Thank you.
